Industry Institute Coordination Committee

Introduction

Industry Institute coordination committee (IICC) has been constituted with Director training and placements as convenor. The committee is expected to serve the institution in bridging the gap between the academia by exposing the students to latest industry trends and technologies.

Term

The term of the members of the Committee is two years.

Meetings

The committee shall meet at least once in a semester and also as and when required.

Functions

  • To explore ways to enter into Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the industries.
  • To organize guest lectures to the staff and students by industry experts.
  • To invite industry personnel to train students on latest technologies, equipment and industry requirements and standards.
  • To organize industrial visits to the students and staff.
  • To organize demonstrations, short-term courses by the industry experts.
  • To recognize industry experts to offer a course in a semester.
  • To prepare data required for NBA, NAAC, UGC and other ranking agencies like NIRF etc.

MOU’s with industry

A total of 29 MOU’s are signed between Vasavi College of Engineering and Industries from both core sectors and IT. Companies such as Microsoft, Infosys, Pega, Navarath technologies, Progress software signed MOU’s with CSE and IT branches. Electronics and Communication Engineering department has signed MOU’s with AMD, Redpine Signals, Infosys and Cognizant. The department of Mechanical Engineering has signed MOU’s with Hyper works, Avishkar Industries and Mouktik Consulting Services Pvt Ltd. Civil Engineering department has made MOU’s with Geo Map Systems, Vertex constructions, Ashoka Developers etcs. Discussions are going on with other companies and industries for signing more MOU’s.

Industry Visits

The College encourages the students for Industry visits through IICC. The industry visits are planned in concurrence with the respective HOD’s proposals. Students of CSE and IT branches regularly visit Microsoft, Cognizant, Progress and Infosys. Mechanical Engineering students visit BHEL, Aviskhar Industries, Railway Workshop. Civil engineering students are taken for field trip to projects such as Kaleswaram, Robo sand manufacturing units and Prica –precast concrete industry. EEE students regularly visit Power plants and substations.

Guest Lectures and training by Industry Experts

Eminent resource persons are invited by the IICC to enable the students and staff learn new technologies and industries practices. The resource persons are drawn from both the core companies and IT sector. Guest lectures are scheduled from 90 Min to 120 Min depending on the content and requirements. Short term courses are conducted by the departments in collaboration with industry and premier institutions such as IIT,IIIT and NITs.

Industry Experts

Several Industry experts and entrepreneurs are appointed as adjunct professors in various departments. The available slots in the time table are adjusted based on the experts convenience so that they can handle one complete course in a semester. This practice is followed in Mechanical, Civil and IT branches.

Internships

Most of the IT based companies such as Oracle, Accolite, Service now, Cognizant, Amazon, CISCO, AIR worldwide, AMD, MTX Inc., Energy Tech Global, Tata Consultancy Services (Digital), Thomson Reuters, CISCO, Ashoka Developers Open text, Epam, progress software program offer internship to our students as a part of their placement program. Students going for internship is increasing year on year and this academic year it has reached 158.
